2. BP Amoco Announces Cleaner Gas For Birmingham - Imagine introducing a new cleaner gasoline in Birmingham, that according to the statistical data, the amount of pollution reduced from the cleaner gas will be the equivalent of removing 1750 cars from Birmingham area highways every day. BP Amoco, responding to an invitation from Gov. Don Siegelman, announced (Wednesday May 31st) Birmingham's inclusion in their international Cleaner Cities program. Birmingham joins the United Kingdom, Poland, Paris and U.S. cities, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee and Atlanta as a recipient of BP Amoco's cleaner fuels. The cleaner low sulfur gasoline (its sold as BP Super 93 and Crystal Clear Amoco Ultimate) will be sold at 117 BP and Amoco station in Shelby and Jefferson counties, and will not only be in the pumps for the ozone season, but year round.

In partnership with Alabama Partners for Clean Air, BP Amoco will also be participating in a Jefferson/Shelby voluntary emissions testing program this summer.
